Terms of use

Terms of use.

Effective 7 October 2026 · ELAQ Limited

1. Accepting these terms

These terms are between you and ELAQ Limited (“we”, “us”), which makes Mawqut. By using Mawqut you agree to them. If you do not agree, please delete the app. How Mawqut handles data is explained in our privacy policy.

2. Who can use Mawqut

Anyone can use Mawqut. There is no account and no sign-up. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to them for you, and purchases follow your Apple Account's family settings.

3. What Mawqut is

Mawqut is an app to help you pray on time: calculated prayer times and adhan notifications, Salah Lock, the Qur'an with an English translation, a Ramadan challenge, qibla, a prayer log, dhikr and widgets. It is a tool for building the habit of prayer.

Mawqut does not issue religious rulings, does not decide whether a prayer or fast is valid, and is not a substitute for the guidance of a qualified scholar or your local mosque. Where practice differs, such as calculation methods, the Asr time or the start of Ramadan, Mawqut offers the common options and leaves the choice to you.

4. Prayer-time accuracy

Mawqut calculates prayer times on your iPhone from your location or chosen city, the calculation method and madhab you select, and published astronomical formulas. Calculated times are estimates. They can differ from your local mosque's timetable because of the method, local custom, elevation, weather, rounding, an inaccurate location or time zone, or the high-latitude rule in use. The qibla bearing is calculated, and a phone compass can be disturbed by magnets, metal and cases.

Please check the times against your local mosque, especially for Fajr, Isha and the start and end of fasting. Mawqut lets you adjust each prayer by up to 30 minutes either way, choose a different method, madhab or high-latitude rule, and shift the Hijri date by up to two days. Ramadan and Eid dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar plus your adjustment, and may differ from the announcement in your country.

You remain responsible for the times you pray and fast. We are not liable for a prayer, suhoor or iftar taken at a time shown in the app.

5. Mawqut+ subscriptions

Mawqut is free to use, and every feature you need to fulfil your prayers stays free. Mawqut+ is an optional upgrade, available as:

Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the price and currency for your country, including any taxes.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions) after purchase. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Mawqut+ until the end of the period you have paid for.

If you start the free trial and do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the yearly subscription begins and you are charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Whether you are eligible for the trial is decided by Apple; if you are not eligible, the app does not offer one.

The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment for continued access to Mawqut+ features in this app. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

Because Mawqut has no account, your purchase belongs to your Apple Account. On a new iPhone, use Restore Purchases in Mawqut's settings.

6. Refunds

All purchases are made through Apple, and Apple handles refunds. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. To request one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.

7. Salah Lock and its limits

Salah Lock uses Apple's Screen Time to shield apps you choose at prayer time, until you log the prayer. It is designed to help you pause, not to make your phone unusable:

Salah Lock depends on iOS. Screen Time can behave differently across iOS versions, after updates, after a restart, in Low Power Mode or when permissions change, and Apple controls what apps like Mawqut can do with it. We cannot guarantee that a shield will always appear, or always lift, exactly on time. Do not use Salah Lock on any app you may need in an emergency, such as phone, messaging, maps, medical, banking or safety apps.

Salah Lock is a self-control tool for your own device. Do not use it to restrict someone else's phone without their knowledge.

8. Content sources and licences

Mawqut is built on these works, each used under its own terms:

These credits are also shown in the app under Settings › Sources. Topic lists, du'a and dhikr selections, plain-English glosses, reading plans, the app's design, code, patterns and artwork, and the Mawqut name and mark belong to ELAQ Limited and are licensed to you only for use within the app. Nothing in Mawqut's curated lists is AI-generated religious text.

9. Your content

Anything you write in Mawqut, such as journal entries, belongs to you. It stays on your iPhone and is never sent to us, so we do not claim any rights over it and cannot see it. Share cards and wallpapers you save or share are yours to use, with the Qur'an text credited as above.

10. Acceptable use

Please do not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app, except as the law allows; interfere with its purchase verification; alter the Qur'an text in anything you share from it; or use Mawqut's name or mark in a way that suggests we endorse you.

11. Availability

We may update, change or remove features, and future versions may need a newer iOS. We will not remove something you paid for without offering a fair remedy. Because Mawqut does not depend on a server of ours, the app on your iPhone keeps working offline.

12. Liability

Mawqut is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, including a prayer or fast timed by a calculated time, or missed messages, calls or events while an app was shielded. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

13. Apple's licence terms

Mawqut is licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). These terms add to the EULA; where they differ, the EULA applies to your licence to use the app. Apple is not responsible for Mawqut or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of the EULA. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple's own terms.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date; continuing to use Mawqut after an update means you accept the revised terms.
